Research and Specilization
Research. This is what makes your nation different from everyone elses, you can choose what abilities you will have and what kind of asset you will be to your pact. I will explain the pros and cons of both sides only you can choose what your nation will become.
Diplomacy. Dispite the name of this side of the research tree, quite a few heavy hitters use this side, for one reason, MONEY. This tree offers you the ability to build the metropolis, a massive structure that gives you more money perland than either the town or city. That is the biggest part of this side of the tree. Other things you will find here of use are, sub-surface mining (1 land metal mines), metal conservation(less metal to make units), Trude power plant (the end all of power producing technology), Free-market economy (increased tax income). This tree is good, the only thing is, you dont get any specialized units that the military side does, but with your income, who needs em?
Military. This side has many paths which you will find some nice toys on. The three main paths are, Tanks, Infantry, and Air power. There is also a middle path, with Spy resistence and bonuses, as well as missiles, but the missiles suck so dont use em. the spy specs are good to fill in if you want to keep your enemies guessing, and also are good filelrs while waiting to unlock the stamps that need 20 or more in the tree. Now onto the main paths.
Tanks: Tanks are ruggeded, heavily armored, and have good firepower. the tank path will increase the power of your tanks, make them build faster, as well as unlock a few specialized tanks that are more powerful than the normal ones. The Guardian 9 anti-air specialist tank is the first unit you get on this path, it is, by far, the best air defense unit in the game. The next big step on this path is the mighty Brute Tank. This is the best tank in the game (in regards to resources). Heavy hitting, and even heavier armor than the julian. at the bottom of this tree is the godly razorback tank, If you are lucky enough to get a trude, this tank is a good way to use it, with 4 times the HP of the brute 12 more attack and ZERO oil needed to use it, its a nice trophy unit.
Air Power: Aside from the two Anti-air units the tank people have, Air is the biggest hole in a ground based defense as well as ground based attacks. The air power path will decrease build times, increase power and unlock two special units. the appache, which is a defensive helicopter that has a pretty decent attack as well. and the spirit, which is a heavy bomber. Not many people use this tree because the main air untis are alreadty unlocked for any player.
Infantry: where infantry may not be the best idea of a mainstay army, the bottom of this path as the gem of the entire tree and that is Martial Law, this stamp would be the equvilant to the metroplis on teh diplomacy tree. It allows you to have Unlimited barracks space, meaning later in the game when your diplomatic counterpart has dozens of barracks to hold is units, you wont need a single one, leaving you with more land to outproduce your enemies.
But, you dont have to use just one side of the tree. Infact quite a few people use both. for example. after you get the metropolis on the diplomacy side, if you dont need anything else on that tree, it'd be a good idea to get the Guradian 9 unlocked. You can mix and match anyway you want.
